Employee volunteering can benefit your business, your employees and the communities you work in. Did you know volunteering not only benefits the many local causes who rely on their volunteers, but it is hugely worthwhile to employers who support their staff to give volunteer time? Research shows that volunteering increases feelings of enjoyment and wellbeing, allows people to make a real difference and gives them the opportunity to learn new skills. During January and February Mid Sussex Voluntary Action are hosting three Volunteer Fairs across Mid Sussex. We have a range of local community groups and charities coming to the fairs to talk to members of the public about the hugely varied and interesting roles available to volunteers. From micro-volunteering, gardening, or befriending to using professional skills to help the running of these vital groups, there are many roles available that can fit around paid work and around each employee’s needs. The Burgess Hill volunteer fair presents a great opportunity for you and your staff to pop in at lunchtime, meet some of the local community groups and hear about their work and opportunities? MSVA’s Volunteer and Community Development team will also be there to support local businesses who are interested in starting a conversation about volunteering.
